Spring - Are Your Gutters Ready?

Spring is almost here.  And with that comes the spring storms that will dump rain on your home.   To ensure that your foundation, home and landscaping stay clear of harmful water damage, gutters and downspouts must remain clean and free flowing.

Gutters and downspouts clog when they become filled with leaves and debris that become trapped in the gutters.  This causes water to back up and overflow the gutters.  One way to prevent clogs in your gutters is to have gutter protection installed on your gutter system.

There are many different types of gutter guards to choose from but the best gutter protection is a hooded type that completely covers the top of the gutter and uses surface tension to draw the water flow over the nose of the guard into slits on the face and into your gutters.  The hood keeps leaves and debris out while allowing the water to flow in.  Leaves and debris sit on top of the hood and when dry, blow off to the ground.

At Gutter Covers International, our premium, high-quality hooded gutter cover is called Gutter Topper® and is one of the first gutter guards to use surface tension to draw water into the gutter system.  It has been independently tested and certified to withstand 110mph winds (Category 2 hurricane) and can handle 22 inches of rain per hour.  It is also strong enough to handle heavy ice and snow because it can hold up to 1,200 lbs. per square foot.

There are also perforated gutter covers that keep debris and leaves out but let rainwater in.  This type of gutter protection sits on top of the gutter and has a lower profile so it can barely be seen from street level.  Our perforated systems are also independently tested and certified to withstand winds and heavy rain and are an economical solution to gutter protection.

Regardless of the type of gutter guards you use, you’ll want to check your gutters at least once a year to make sure they are in good working order.  Save time and money by investing in great gutter protection. Your home will thank you for it!
